Mono Card User Guide

Design Philosophy

This article explains the design philosophy behind Mono Card.

The "Core" Behind Sharing

We abstract people's sharing behavior into atomic cases that cannot be further subdivided, and create templates based on these cases.

Design Philosophy

Text can convey information, and images can also convey information. When arranged and recombined, they form cards.

Cards are everywhere in life. Road signs, restaurant menus, message bubbles on your phone - this is an elegant design molecule composed of numerous atoms. We define the following atoms:

  • Title
  • Content
  • Image
  • Author Image
  • Author Name

We abstract all content into combinations of these atoms, fill them into card templates, and form a Mono card. These atoms don't necessarily all have content, but clever template design can accommodate this.

Originating from Reality

We believe people are more familiar with familiar objects, so we incorporate many familiar objects from reality into our template design. For example, we capture the relationship between light, shadow, and surfaces in the real world - you can see real shadows on cards; we notice the interactivity of UI in reality, so we design interactive elements on cards.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

The human brain processes images far more efficiently than text. We hope to help people understand information more efficiently through the visualization of textual information.

Details and Taste are the Moat

We've created a checklist that collects all excellent, well-considered design details. You can find them at detail.design.
